What Defines a Tomboy?
The definition can be a little flexible at times, but a girl is said to be a tomboy when she sports traits often associated with men. The word itself came to be in the 16th century and originally meant “rude, boisterous boy”, and only decades later started to be applied to describe women who either dressed in a more comfort-oriented manner, had a more carefree behavior or those with masculine traits or interests. What is their appeal?
While most of them are not very cuddly and traditionally feminine, they make it up for it with a whole unique experience. Here are some of the perks:
Shared interests: let’s face it, boys and girl are different, and as such, they often have different interests.
